Always the Cure

What do do when I am lonely?

Call my sister?
No, she's busy, likely.

Text a friend?
No, we'll talk, shortly.

Watch a movie?
Journal? Walk?
Check my email?
Post a thought?

What do do when I am lonely?

I know!
I'll read a book!

I do it.
I do it all.
But still the eyes fill and empty.
Still the emptiness gnaws.

What can curb it?
Wait!
I know this!

What to do when I am lonely?

Haven't I known it all along?
How could I have been so foolish?
How is it I misunderstood the invitation
With it knocking at my heart?

Hello, Jesus!
There you are!
Welcome in!
I may have tarried, but
Here I am.

Perpetually Single

So, what's so cool about being perpetually single?

Let me tell you:

Freedom.

Free what? you say.

Free time
Free food (Thanks, Mom!)
Free to devote myself to God
Free to spend & save
Free to go or stay
Free to serve

There truly is something very freeing about being single.
I've actually caught myself thinking, "As long as I don't get married within the next two years, I can save up enough money to..."

Also, if I wasn't single, could I babysit this adorable niece at a moment's notice?

Likely not.

Wow! I am grateful for this post. It's changing my perspective on singleness.

Thank you, NAS ladies, for letting me alter this week's topic a bit to fit my situation, and thanks for the topic! It couldn't have come at a better time.

Linking up with Morgan!
